    Another Commission, Another Happy Customer!

A couple of months ago, I was asked to make a gift for a golden wedding anniversary, by a forum acquaintance who’d come to me for a fusing workshop –  Karen is a lovely lady, who threw herself wholeheartedly into the class and is making some lovely pieces herself already!

Apologies I didn’t take a better photograph, but this platter is about 30cm square and a weighty piece of glass.  The gift was from Karen’s Dad to her Mum, the people in the photograph.  I was really pleased with the result, and Karen’s parents were thrilled.  It feels good to make a piece that people like!

It looks as though it’s a double, out of focus image, but because the decoration is on the top surface of a thick layer of clear, it appears to be floating above the cream base.  Optical illusion!

I Can Show You These Now!

A few months ago, I welcomed three lovely ladies to my studio for a short workshop. As always (not being the tidiest of people) I had some samples and test pieces lying around which caught their eyes. I’d only recently developed the braille postcard idea, but discussion led to commission and I was asked to make two Morse code postcard/panels for my visitors.

The gifts have been given, so now I can show you what I made.

Fusing For Beginners – New Class Date

Alongside one day fusing workshops, I am in the process of sorting my studio space and planning a series of  shorter session where students will attend for several weeks of shorter classes.

Prices and number of weeks to be finalised, but there are several benefits to offering this to customers.  You are not committing a full day of your time all in one go; it may be easier to find one evening a week or fortnight.  You get a chance to respond to, and develop your work.  You get a chance to perhaps work on a more complex project.  If you are interested, please get in touch and I will contact you when I have some firm dates in place.

Meanwhile!   I am running a one day beginners fusing workshop on Saturday, 22nd August down at Shed 2 Studios.  We will learn how to cut glass, starting with plain window glass, and progress throughout the day to work with coloured glass and accessories.  I show you a variety of techniques of cutting, layering, decorating glass and by the end of the day, you will have made several of your own pieces ready for firing.  Perhaps some pendants, and a sun catcher or a coaster.  We’re really flexible about what you can make, but I will be there to guide you at every stage along the way.

If you’d like to book onto this session, please get in touch, details on my contact page.

    New Gallery News

Late last year, I took some work to a new – to me, anyway – exhibition space/shop in the historic town of Lichfield.

Emporium Gallery were having a Christmas Wonderland exhibition and they displayed some of my decorations.  I also cheekily took along a couple of the new pieces I’ve been working on.  I bit of a move change for me, but a direction I wanted to go in.

The delightful ladies in this elegant gallery took those samples, and were very complimentary and enthusiastic about these new pieces.  I went back this week with a selection, and I can now announce that I am officially stocked and amongst great company in this gallery of contemporary British original art and designer craft.

Here’s some of the pieces that are now on display:
